Iipay Nation Tribe Launches Real Money Online Bingo Site
The Iipay Nation of Santa Ysabel tribe has temporarily shifted its focus from online poker and launched Desert Rose Bingo, a website where California residents can make real money bets on Internet bingo games.
In a press release, the tribe announced its partnership with iGaming firm Great Luck LLC. “The Iipay Nation is excited to be the first Tribal government in America to deploy Great Luck’s VPN Aided Play System technology,” said David Chelette, President of Santa Ysabel Interactive. “As the owner-operator, this licensing agreement not only underscores the sovereignty of Santa Ysabel to offer Class II bingo, it also represents the use of innovative technology to reach users.”
According to the Iipay Nation, all betting will be routed in such a way to make the operation entirely legal. Play will be conducted by a “proxy” and at no point will live game action be performed by the customer. “This ensures that all gameplay takes place on tribal lands, under the jurisdiction of the tribal government and is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations,” the tribe claims.
In July, the Iipay Nation made waves by launching a free to play online poker site, and announced that it would offer real money iPoker in the near future. The tribe believes that it has the legal right to open such a venture, even though no legislation exists legalizing the industry in the state.
In August, State Sen. Lou Correa and Assemblyman Reginald Jones-Sawyer both scrapped bills which aimed to regulate online poker in the Golden State. Jones-Sawyer was quick to assure poker players that he would remain hard at work with the state’s gambling interests and introduce a revised bill when the state legislature reconvenes in December.
Whether there is a bill in place or not, the Iipay Nation plans to continue offering bingo, and company representatives have said that real money poker is still coming soon.
For now, legal California residents can begin playing online bingo at the Desert Rose website (www.desertrosebingo.com) starting today. Bingo cards can be bought in denominations of $0.01, $0.05, $0.25, $0.50, and $1.00.
“The Desert Rose Bingo enterprise will offer this small rural community and the Iipay Nation a positive economic impact,” said Chelette.
